MAT Services
Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) combines FDA-approved medications with counseling and behavioral therapies to treat substance use disorders. At NOVA ViA, MAT primarily targets opioid use disorder (OUD) and alcohol use disorder (AUD) using medications such as buprenorphine (Suboxone), naltrexone (Vivitrol), and, at our Wellness facility, methadone via the IVEK Methaspense system.MAT works by stabilizing brain chemistry, reducing cravings, blocking the euphoric effects of substances, and normalizing body functions without the negative effects of the abused substance. It is not “replacing one drug with another.” It is an evidence-based, clinically proven approach that significantly improves treatment retention, reduces illicit drug use, decreases overdose deaths, and supports long-term recovery.Our MAT services include medical evaluation and induction, ongoing medication management, regular drug screening, and coordination with the patient’s broader treatment plan.
Integrative Clinic (IC-MAT)
An Integrative Clinic for Medication-Assisted Treatment (IC-MAT) goes beyond standard MAT by embedding medication management within a comprehensive, whole-person care model. Rather than operating as a standalone prescribing clinic, an IC-MAT wraps MAT services into a broader framework that includes individual and group counseling, behavioral health support, peer support services, case management, and care coordination.The “integrative” distinction means the clinic treats substance use disorder not as an isolated medical issue but as one interconnected with mental health, social determinants, and overall wellbeing. Treatment plans are individualized, combining pharmacological intervention with therapeutic modalities to address the root causes and co-occurring conditions that drive addiction.In practice, this means a patient at NOVA ViA doesn’t just see a prescriber and leave. They engage with a care team across multiple touchpoints, including licensed counselors, peer support specialists, and case managers, all operating under one coordinated treatment plan within our Kipu EHR system. The goal is sustained recovery, not just stabilization.
